    Verification (Blue Tick)

Verification is a badge - a blue checkmark on Instagram and TikTok - that confirms an account belongs to a real person, brand or entity. In 2026, both platforms offer paid Meta Verified and TikTok Verified subscriptions ($14.99/month) plus a legacy invite-only tier for public-interest accounts.

Verified accounts unlock priority support, impersonation protection, and (on TikTok) a small reach boost in the first 24 hours of new content. Eligibility for the paid tiers requires government ID, an active account in good standing, and posting history.

The blue tick correlates with profile-visit-to-follow conversion lifts of 15–25% - viewers treat it as a heuristic for legitimacy. It does not, however, lift the algorithmic ranking of individual posts.

Verification status is independent of follower count, but a healthy follower-to-engagement ratio is part of the 'account in good standing' check. Bot-followed accounts routinely get rejected from the paid tiers.
