Monthly listeners is Spotify's headline metric for artist popularity - the count of unique Spotify accounts that streamed an artist's music in the rolling past 28 days. It's the first number labels, sync agents, brand sponsors and playlist curators look at when evaluating an artist.

Monthly listeners reset on a rolling 28-day window. A spike in listeners on Monday is still counted on the following Monday - but starts dropping off the 29th day onward. Sustaining a high monthly listener count requires continuous listener acquisition, not a one-time push.
Industry credibility thresholds in 2026 are roughly: under 1k = hobbyist (most pitches ignored), 1k–10k = serious independent (open doors to small playlists and sync subs), 10k–100k = professional (sync agents and small labels respond), 100k+ = label-bait (major curator and brand attention).
Buying real monthly listeners with continuous monthly delivery is the cleanest way to break through the 1k credibility floor. The trick is unique-account delivery (the same account streaming repeatedly doesn't count twice in the 28-day window).
