Viral Loop
A viral loop is the self-reinforcing feedback cycle where an early engagement burst pushes a post into discovery surfaces (Explore, Reels, FYP), which exposes it to non-followers who add fresh engagement, which extends reach further. Most viral posts share the same first-30-minute pattern.

The loop is gated by the first 30–60 minutes after posting. Algorithms decide within that window whether to test the post on a small slice of non-followers; the engagement rate from that test slice determines whether the loop kicks in.
Three inputs control entry into the loop: post timing (audience activity peak), early engagement velocity (likes + saves + shares per minute), and topical relevance match. Miss any one and the loop stalls.
Buying a small early-engagement boost on a strong piece of organic content is the highest-ROI use of paid social - it pushes a borderline post over the algorithmic threshold that gates loop entry.
