Spotify Pre-Save
A Spotify pre-save is a listener pledge to auto-save an upcoming release to their library at release time. Pre-saves are set up through the artist's distributor (DistroKid, TuneCore, Symphonic) and trigger the strongest day-one algorithmic signal Spotify recognises.

Pre-saves work because Spotify's algorithm decides within the first 48 hours whether to push a release on Discover Weekly and Release Radar. Pre-saves accumulate before the release exists, so the moment the track drops at midnight Spotify sees a flood of day-one engagement - the exact signal the algorithm rewards.
After the release goes live, pre-saves convert into permanent library saves. Listeners who pre-saved also receive Release Radar notifications, which compounds the day-one push into a multi-week distribution wave.
Independent artists with strong pre-save campaigns regularly land on 400+ Discover Weekly and Release Radar slots in their first week - results that would otherwise require editorial support to achieve.
